JEFFERSON CITY, Tenn. – The Carson-Newman Lady Eagles fought back from a 2-1 deficit in doubles to win their 2012 season opener, 5-4, over the University of the Cumberlands on Friday afternoon at the C-N Tennis Complex.
C-N's No. 3 doubles team of Devon Jennings (Summertown, Tenn.) and Katie Brown (Douglasville, Ga.) and won the only doubles point for the Lady Eagles.
The Lady Eagles took four of the six singles matches to rally for the win.
Freshman Erin Green (Lexington, S.C.) started the comeback with a victory at No. 3 singles, winning 6-0, 6-3 as C-N rolled in the bottom of its singles order.
Junior Megan Wilson won a three-set match at No. 5 singles over Erin Hart to clinch the match for Carson-Newman.
Katie Brown, at No. 4 singles, and Tiffany Delias, at No. 6 singles (Morristown, Tenn.) followed with singles wins.
Carson-Newman faces Lee University on Saturday at 11:45 a.m. in Jefferson City.
