ROCK HILL, S.C. -- The Carson-Newman volleyball team landed
three members on the preseason All-South Atlantic Conference teams,
league officials announced Wednesday.
Junior outside hitter Carly Mozgai (Greensboro, N.C.) and senior
middle hitter Katie Troyer (Plain City, Ohio) were named to the
first team, while senior setter Stephanie Cutter (Murfreesboro,
Tenn.) was a second team selection.
Mozgai, a second team All-SAC and second team Daktronics
All-Southeast Region performer in 2008, led the Lady Eagles and was
ninth in the conference in kills last season with 401. She recorded
double-digit kills in 21 matches, including a season-high 18
against Francis Marion on Sept. 20. Mozgai also finished the year
with 246 digs and 67 blocks.
Troyer earned first team All-SAC honors last season after tallying
365 kills, including 18 double-digit kill performances. She tallied
a season-high 20 kills against West Virginia State on Aug. 29.
Troyer led the Lady Eagles and was fourth in the SAC with a school
record .317 hitting percentage. She also led C-N and was third in
the conference in assist blocks with 98, including 31 solo
blocks.
Cutter finished 2008 with a team-high 801 assists, which ranked
ninth in the conference, and recorded 298 digs. She accumulated 30
or more assists on five occasions and had 11 double-doubles,
including a season-high 35 assists and 18 digs against Lincoln
Memorial University on Nov. 14 in the SAC Tournament.
The Lady Eagles, which went 24-15 last season and advanced to the
NCAA Southeast Regional tournament.
