Eagles Finish 4th at Tennessee Tech Invitational

BAXTER, Tenn. — Carson-Newman runners Hannah Reese and Luke Hall claimed the top spots among Eagle racers at the Southern Hills Golf Course for the Tennessee Tech Invitational Friday evening.

Both the men and women teams finished finished 4th overall.

Hannah Reese (Brandon, Miss.) continued her senior campaign with a solid outing, finishing seventh overall with a time of 20:26.

"Hannah Reese, with another top ten result (4th of the season), continues her consistency," Carson-Newman head cross country coach Whitney Lee said.

Megan Farjellah (Murphy, N.C.) posted a time of 22:12 and finished 24th overall. The 22:12 mark sets a personal best for Farjellah.

"Very effective performance from Megan Farjellah. It may have been her best technical race this season," Lee said.

Brooke Earhart (Dickson, Tenn.) finished 32nd overall with a time of 23:15, posting her second best time of the season and improving from her 23:35 performance at the Greensboro Invitational.

"Good to have Brooke Earhart back in the scoring five for us," said Lee.  "We hope to see her finish her career on a high note at SAC Championships in a couple of weeks."

Luke Hall (Seymour, Tenn.) led the men with a 30th overall performance posting a time of 30:02.

"Despite the "less-than-normal" time result, Luke still showed a strength we'll need in the SAC Championships," Lee said.

Angel Soriano (Weatherford, Tex.) had a solid performance posting a time of 31:15 and finishing 40th overall.

Joey Nielson (Ringgold, Ga.), posted his second best time of the season with a 31:33. He finished 44th overall.

"Joey Nielsen ran a good race," said Lee.  We really like where his training is right now and look forward to seeing a big personal record at the SAC Championships for him."

"The men did some good pack running in spots early but we still need to trust we can maintain that cohesion later in the race," Lee said.

The Eagles will next head to Tusculum, Tenn. to finish out the cross country season at the SAC Cross Country Championships October 20, 2012 on the campus of Tusculum College.  The men will start their race first, at 9:00 a.m., with the women following at 10:15 a.m.
