Carson-Newman Wraps Up Season at SAC Cross Country Championships

TUSCULUM, Tenn.—The Eagles capped off their cross country seasons Saturday at the 2012 SAC Cross Country Championships at Tusculum College.

Hannah Reese (Brandon, Miss.) ended her senior campaign finishing 19th overall, posting a respectful time of 21:02.

"She faded late in the race with a physical ailment," Carson-Newman head cross country coach Whitney Lee said.  "But she still showed some guts to finish where she did and still lead our team."

Amanda Bowman (Greeneville, Tenn.) posted her third best time all season and improved from last week's 23:55 performance with an impressive time of 22:10 and placing 37th.

Megan Farjellah (Murphy, N.C.) crossed the finish line posting a time of 22:21 and placing 39th.

Brooke Earhart (Dickson, Tenn.) and Aiyana Martino (Kalispell, MT) posted times of 23:33 and 23:30, their personal best finishes this season.

"Our women finish out of the top half of the conference for the first time in SAC history," said Lee.  "This was not at all what was expected at the beginning of the season."

The women finished 7th overall.

Luke Hall (Seymour, Tenn.) led the men finishing 28th overall with a time of 28:29; posting his personal best time of the season.

Angel Soriano (Weatherford, Tex.) placed 57th with a time of 30:07 and improving from his Tennessee Tech Invitational performance of 30:54.

Jonathan Chastain (Knoxville, Tenn.) posted his second best time of the season posting an impressive 30:46 and 62nd place performance.

The men finished 10th overall.

"Our men didn't really run poorly, we just have a long way to go to be competitive in our conference," Lee said.

"We had some good races individually, but still just don't have the fire power to be relevant at this point," Lee said.  "They ran hard; we're just facing some giants right now in our conference."
