Eagle cross country teams turn in sixth place finishes at the Bulldog Stampede

WINGATE, N.C. – Both Carson-Newman's men and women's cross country teams finished in sixth place at Wingate's Bulldog Stampede Saturday morning. 

Among SAC school's Carson-Newman's men's team finished behind Wingate, but ahead of Catawba and Coker, both of whom C-N was picked behind in the preseason poll.  The same result could be said for the women's team, which finished behind Wingate, but ahead of Coker and Catawba. 

Nicholas Guerra turned in a top 20 performance on the men's side with a 29:38.  Another freshman, Joshua Marsh finished three spots behind him at 21st with a time of 30:01. 

All told the Eagles had four freshman finish in the top 30 as Alec Bross and John Spidel crossed the line back-to-back at 28th and 29th with times of 30:36 and 30:42, respectively.

On the women's side, Sara Honaker took home a top 20 finish with a time of 21:12 to wind up in 16th

Behind her was Amanda Bowman with a time of 22:19 in 28th. 

The Eagles play host to the Carson-Newman Classic next week.
