Lads storm through Tornados for 2-0 victory

BREVARD, N.C. – The Carson-Newman (3-3, 2-0 SAC) men's soccer team blew away the Brevard Tornados (2-5-1, 0-3 SAC) in today's 2-0 contest.

Dominik Gronwald (Germany) supplied the game-winning goal in the 18th minute by heading the ball from inside Brevard's 18-yard box.

The Eagles held their 1-0 lead through the first half. Nine minutes into the second, Gronwald got on the end of a cross and one-timed a pass to Robert Wagner (Germany) for his fifth goal of the year and C-N's second of the match.

Carson-Newman outshot the Tornados seven to five and six to two in shots on goal. Wagner released three shots, all of which were on target.

Senior fullback Duncan Foster (United Kingdom) got off two shots and placed them both on frame.

C-N's past three matches have resulted in shutouts while the Lads have tallied 12 goals.

The Eagles head next to Wingate Monday, Sept. 29 for a 4 p.m. kickoff.
