JEFFERSON CITY, Tenn. – The Carson-Newman (7-8-2, 6-3-2 SAC) men's soccer team finished its regular season ranked third in the South Atlantic Conference. The men host rival Tusculum (9-6-2, 5-4-2 SAC) in the first round of tournament play tomorrow at 7:30 p.m.
Wingate finished regular season ranked first in the SAC with 25 points followed closely by Mars Hill with 24.
C-N roped in third place with 20 points, L-R fourth with 19 and Anderson fifth with 18. The Pioneers earned 17 points landing them in sixth place.
Lincoln Memorial and Coker both concluded the season with 15 points and a conference record of 4-4-3. LMU placed seventh, Coker eighth.
Catawba, Newberry, Queens and Brevard filled out the ninth, tenth, eleventh and twelfth places respectively.
On Oct. 1, Tusculum and the Eagles tied 1-1 after two overtime periods. Marius Staalby (Norway) took a one goal lead for C-N in the 12th minute. The Eagles held their lead until the 76th when Mark Patterson tied it up.
