VIDEO: Tom Read Interview
NEWBERRY, S.C. – Seniors Tom Read and Samuel Jenkins were named members of the Division II Conference Commissioners' Association All-Southeast Region teams on Wednesday.
Read's first team All-Region honor marks his second from the D2CCA after being named a second team member in 2015. He was also an NSCAA All-Southeast Region Second-Team recipient that same season.
His placement on the first-team advances him to the All-America ballot that will be released in December.

During the midfielder's senior campaign, he racked up a team-high 11 goals, a total that tied with teammate Tobias Solem Karlsen. Starting and playing in all 18 of the Eagles' games this season, he led the team with 25 points and 71 shots, 28 of those falling on goal. His final season as an Eagle saw him garner the eighth-most shots attempted in a season, jumping his 2015 ninth-best tally of 62 shots.
"Individually, I think I played better in 2015 than I did this season," Read said. "I think I got goals, but my actual performances weren't as good this year."
The London, England native closed out his career with the Eagles holding the second-most career assists in program history with 31 in his three years. He propelled up the career record lists in five other categories. He stands at sixth in C-N history with 79 points, eighth for 24 goals, sixth for five game-winning goals, second-most shots attempted at 219 and third-most shots on goal with 93.
Serving as a captain for this year's C-N squad alongside, Jenkins' second team accolade is his first ever All-Region recognition and his second postseason honor for 2017.

The back played a crucial role in the Carson-Newman defense this season, starting in 17 of the team's 18 matches including the nine clean sheets, eight of those strung together over a four-week period, that the Eagles held against opponents. While he didn't score a goal this season, he lent a helping hand in Tobias Solem Karlsen's goal against No. 5 Lenoir-Rhyne in a 1-0 victory at McCown Field on Sept. 20.
"As a player, I think he has developed a lot," Read mentioned of his fellow senior. "I mean, he was playing out of position last season at right back and then he came into center back this year.
"He's been a leader and he's done really well, been more confident playing out the back and I've seen him develop great as a player."
In his two seasons with the Eagles, the Oxford, England native played in 33 games, amassing 2,695 minutes of time on the pitch with one goal and one assist.
The seniors were two of 14 recipients from the South Atlantic Conference.
