JEFFERSON CITY, Tenn. – The Carson-Newman beach volleyball team is traveling to Joelton, Tennessee to take on Austin Peay, Lincoln Memorial and Spring Hill this weekend to close out the 2017 season.

"We are really excited to go over there and play four quality matches," Carson-Newman beach volleyball coach Kyle Peck said. "I know that we've gotten better and I assume that the competition has gotten better since the start of the season. Hopefully we will get to send our seniors out with a couple of wins this weekend."

Carson-Newman (2-4) has already played Lincoln Memorial and Austin Peay earlier this season, going 0-3 against the two schools. The Eagles last two matches have been 4-1 losses at home against the Railsplitters. The injury bug has hit the Eagles of late and has caused a shakeup in the lineup, but the top tandem of Taylor Lowe (Franklin, Tenn.) and Anna Patton (Franklin, Tenn.) have stayed injury free. The duo of Lowe and Patton have gone 3-1 this season.

Lincoln Memorial (8-11) has gone 3-0 this season against tournament competition. The Railsplitters have a pair of 4-1 victories over Carson-Newman and a 4-1 victory over Austin Peay. Five of the Railsplitters eight wins have come against Division I competition. The top tandem for Lincoln Memorial of Abby Cash and Jamie Jehne have won four-consecutive matches. While the Railsplitters No. 4 and No.5 teams have tied for the team lead in wins with eight each.

Austin Peay (7-17) is 1-1 this against the field, the Governors picked-up a 4-1 victory over Carson-Newman on March 17 and lost to Lincoln Memorial 4-1 on April 2. The Governors are currently riding a two-match winning streak after a sweep of UT-Martin.

Spring Hill (14-16) has five teams with double digit wins this season. The No. 1 tandem of Madison Seuzeneau and Julie Vujnovich are 11-16 this season. The No. 2 duo of Savannah Becnel and Molly Griffin have gone 12-15 this year.

The No. 3 tandem for the Badgers have compiled an overall record of 13-14 with eight wins coming at the No. 3 spot. The No.4 tandem of Caroline Herrera and Hannah Masoner have gone 16-12 this season.

There will be a championship and consolation game played on Sunday afternoon to close out the weekend.
