Lady Eagles Shut Down Erskine, 6-1 and 13-2
DUE WEST, S.C. – The Carson-Newman Lady Eagles used timely offense and dominant pitching to sweep a doubleheader at Erskine College on Saturday afternoon, winning 6-1 in the opener and 13-2 in the nightcap.

With the wins, C-N improves to 6-2 on the season.
The Lady Eagles double header on Sunday against Lees-McRae has been postponed until Feb. 20 at 2 p.m. due to freezing temperatures.
Game 1 - Carson-Newman 6, Erskine 1
The Carson-Newman Lady Eagles took advantage of three Flying Fleet errors during a five-run fifth inning to handle Erskine in game one, 6-1.
Sophomore Caitlyn Lance delivered a bases-clearing double for the big blow in the inning. Cassie Elliott added an RBI single in the inning as three Lady Eagles reached on errors.
Sara Kelley had a double in the game for C-N and Bethany Davis chipped in an RBI single in the third to give C-N a 1-0 lead.
Starter Mary Shealy (WP, 5-2) needed minimal run support. She allowed only two hits and an earned run in the win. Her only mistake was a home run in the fifth to Erskine's Spurrier, after C-N had already built a 6-0 lead.
C-N had only five hits in the win, but Shealy held the Fleet at bay.
Game 2 – Carson-Newman 13, Erskine 2
Cassidy Skeen hit an inside-the-park home run as the Lady Eagles rolled past Erskine in game two, 13-2, in six innings.
