Eagles look ahead to Texas Relays

AUSTIN, Texas- Carson-Newman track and field is set to send six Eagles to compete at the Texas Relays.

Carson-Newman track and field is headed to the Texas Relays beginning this Friday, Mar. 31 at 12:30 p.m.

Six Eagles qualified to attend the meet.

"We are proud of the group going to Texas. They know they are representing our university against some of the very best in the country and the world," head track and field coach David Needs said.

Devon Moore, Makanakaishe Charamba, and Siphosethu Boya will race in the men's 100-meter dash. On the women's side of the event, Sade De Sousa will compete for the Eagles.

Moore, Charamba, and Boya will also compete in the men's 4x100-meter relay with teammate Ashwin Jood.

Matthew Blackmon will take on the 110-meter hurdles.

"The challenge is the same as always, which is to remain focused on who we can be and not worry about who else is there. When you have so many great schools there, that does become a little more difficult. But truly, what a great platform for us to grow as competitors," Needs said.

The Eagles will compete in the two-day Texas Relays beginning tomorrow, Mar. 31 at 12:30 p.m. Stay up to date on cneagles.com.
