PUEBLO, Colo.- Carson-Newman track and field's Kadidja Sangare and Sydney McCarty earned All-American status in the women's long jump during the first day of the NCAA DII Outdoor Track & Field Championships.

The Division II Outdoor Track and Field Championships began this afternoon, May 25. Sangare and McCarty were the first Eagles to compete in the meet. Both athletes competed in the women's long jump event and each earned All-American distinction during the finals. Sangare placed sixth in the event with a 6.11-meter leap becoming a first-team All-American for her efforts. McCarty finished 11th with a 5.92-meter leap and earned second-team All-America honors.

The men's 4x100-meter relay team finished second in the first round of the event. Makanakaishe Charamba, Dawson Jones, Devon Moore, and Siphosethu Boya each ran a leg in the event, and the quartet finished with a time of 39.18 seconds. The finals for the men's 4x100 relay will take place on Saturday, May 27 at 9:20 p.m. Eastern Standard Time.

Jood raced in the men's 400-meter prelims and finished seventh in 46.43. His efforts earned him a spot in the finals which will take place at 10:25 p.m. on Saturday, May 27.

Charamba and Moore will compete in the men's 100-meter dash finals after qualifying during today's preliminary event. Charamba finished second in the first round with a time of 10.21. Moore finished fourth in the prelims in 10.28. The men's 100 finals will take place on Saturday, May 27 at 10:45 p.m.
