Small pack of Eagles head to the Electric City Invitational

ANDERSON, S.C.- Carson-Newman track and field is sending a small group to compete in the Electric City Invitational this weekend beginning Friday, April 14.

"We are taking a very small group to Anderson. After a rainy weekend and knowing that the conference meet is fast approaching, we are taking a smaller group for very diverse reasons," head track and field coach David Needs said.

The Electric City Invitational at Anderson University will begin on Friday, April 14 at 12:00 p.m. Field events will take place first, and track events will begin at 5:00 p.m. and include only the men's and women's 4x800-meter relays.

"For some like Courtavious and Sydney, they are attending because we want to improve on their marks for nationals. For Tytiana and Ashwin, we know we are seeking a national level performance in the 400-meter race, and Anderson is the place to do that," Needs said.

On Saturday, April 15, track events will begin at 9:30 a.m. with the women's 10,000-meter event. The women's 400-meter dash will take place at 1:20 p.m., and the men's 400-meter dash will follow directly after at 1:35 p.m. Field events will begin at 11:00 a.m. with the women's and men's discus events. The women's long jump will take place at 12:00 p.m., and the men's long jump will follow directly after.

"For some others that are attending, we are trying to get a mark or improve for the conference meet. In all cases, we know we have a small but dedicated group going to Anderson," Needs said.

The Eagles will compete this weekend on Friday, April 14 and Saturday, April 15 at the Electric City Invitational at Anderson University. Stay up to date on cneagles.com.
