Williams, Stansberry named Chick-Fil-A Athletes of the Week

JEFFERSON CITY, Tenn. - Carson-Newman  junior froward Sawyer Williams (Owenton, Ky.) and swimmer Margaret Stansberry (Knoxville, Tenn.) have been named the Chick-Fil-A Male and Female Athletes of the Week.

Williams reset his career high with a 37-point effort in the Eagles' loss at LMU.  He also grabbed 12 rebounds for his fifth-career double-double. Williams became the highest scoring Eagle since Antoine Davis dropped 36 against the Queens (N.C.) Royals on Dec. 18th, 2012.

Williams also reset career highs for made field goals (12), field goal attempts (19), made free throws (13) and free throw attempts (18). 

Stansberry swam B-cut times in the 200 Free, 200 Individual Medley and 100 Back in Atlanta; she was also a member of the 200 Free, 200 Medley and 400 Medley relay teams that swam provisional cut times. The sophomore now owns or is a part of eight of the team's best time in an event this season. The Knoxville, Tenn.-native's best finishes came in the 200 Back where she finished 26th and in the 200 Free, which resulted in a finish in 14th.
