Eagle alum Sanders carving Australian professional league to pieces

SUNBURRY, Australia – Carson-Newman men's basketball alum Ish Sanders is having quite the summer playing professionally in the Land Down Under.

The Eagles' all-time leader in made threes has earned two of the last three player of the week honors in the Big V professional league for the Sunburry Jets. He was named the player of the month for April for the league.

Sanders has taken the league by storm, averaging 33.3 points through April, with a high of 48 against Chelsea mid-month. Remarkably, that wasn't the only time he reached 40. He scored 45 points in a win at Geelong to finish the month. He also pulled down just under six boards per game and dished out just under three assists.

Sanders is the league's leading scorer for the season and also leads the league for free throws made (65) and threes made (38). Sunburry is 4-4 this season.
