Carson-Newman Men's Soccer Rolls Past Concord, 4-0, On The Road Tuesday

CONCORD, W.Va. - A pair of goals late in the first half helped the Carson Newman College Men's Soccer Team (6-3-1) to a 4-0 win over Concord University (4-8-0) Tuesday afternoon at Anderson Field in non-conference action.

The Eagles scored twice late in the first half to break up a scoreless tie. Senior Omar Cooke (Roanoke, Va.) tallied the first goal of the match in the 40th minute. Freshman Daniel Zitt (Morristown, Tenn.) was credited with the assist.

Zitt would score the second goal on a header, off an assist from sophomore Robert Hill (Middlesbrough, ENGLAND), with just :59 remaining before the break to put C-N up 2-0.

The two-score margin remained until junior Matthew Finlay (Liverpool, ENGLAND) put the match out of reach with his third goal of the season with 17:22 left in regulation, assisted by Cooke.

Hill closed out the scoring on a penalty kick just 30 seconds later for the final 4-0 margin.

The Eagles outshot the Mountain Lions, 29-5, and held an 8-3 advantage in corner kicks in the match.

Carson-Newman will travel to Salisbury, N.C., Friday in a return to South Atlantic Conference action against Catawba College. Kickoff is scheduled for 7:00 p.m.
