CHARLOTTE, N.C. - Entering day two of the Bluegrass Mountain Conference Championships, Carson-Newman Swimming wrapped up the morning preliminary events with the men's team sitting in third and women's team in fourth heading into tonight's finals.

Nine individuals and an additional two relays will compete in their respective 'A' event finals slated for a 5:00 p.m. start.

Freshman Matthew George will compete in his first individual event final as an Eagle in the 500-yard freestyle as he rounded out the top eight swimmers with a time of 4:33.70.

Joining George in her first year is Meredith Ginn who enters the 200-yard individual medley final with the fourth-best time during the prelim swims at 2:03.96.

Jon Lancaster and Caleb Howell both turned in top-eight times in the 200-yard IM with the senior Lancaster at 1:51.14 and Howell earning the best time in the preliminary swim at 1:48.05.

Three C-N women's swimmers cracked the finals in the 50-yard freestyle as Lisa Postma, Elly Culp, and Mary Northcutt will represent the Eagles turning in times of 23.56, 23.39, and 23.69 seconds respectively. Culp's time breaks her previous school record time of 23.49 seconds set in 2017. She's third all-time in program history.

Jonny Goss is the lone male to compete for the Eagles in the same event 'A' finals after finishing with a time of 20.65 seconds.

The men's and women's 400-yard medley relay is also set to take place later on in the evening.

"Very solid swims this morning from the team," Coach Jordan Taylor said. "A lot of people coming back tonight which us great abd they can all do even better tonight. It'll be a great way to finish off the sessions with those relays as well so I'm looking forward to seeing how we do."
