Carson-Newman Women's Basketball Game Notes

JEFFERSON CITY, Tenn. – Carson-Newman returns to Holt Fieldhouse Wednesday evening for a 6 p.m. opening tap against a Brevard team that has lost seven straight contests.

Carson-Newman (10-4, 4-4 South Atlantic Conference) has not lost back-to-back games this season winning each of the first three games this year following a loss by 21, 29 and 20 points in those contests.

"We don't take losses lightly," Carson-Newman coach Mike Mincey said. "We think that we are good enough to win every game and it seems like in a lot of those losses, not Catawba, but the other ones we felt like they were winnable games for us and we should have won the game. We come back and put a lot of time into our film and spend more time on ourselves than the opponent so maybe that's the recipe. The kids don't want to lose and as coaches we don't want to lose."

The 19th meeting between the two schools comes on Wednesday night as Carson-Newman has won 16 of the first 18 contests against the Tornados (1-10, 0-7 SAC),

Brevard's two wins in the series came on Jan. 5, 2011 and Jan. 14, 2015 with both contests being played at Boshamer Gymnasium. Katie Williams banked in a 25-foot three-pointer at the end of regulation to force overtime. The Lady Eagles missed all 16 long-distance dedications in the first half and went 5-for-33 in the game.

Brevard's lone win this season was a 69-65 overtime victory at Winston-Salem State entering Wednesday's contest losers of seven straight games. Seven of the losses this year have come by at least 10 points.
