JEFFERSON CITY, Tenn. – The road heavy portion of Carson-Newman's schedule kicks in with the first in a string of eight out of 12 away games as the Lady Eagles trek to Brevard Wednesday night at 6 p.m. for South Atlantic Conference play.

"Anytime you go to Brevard and this goes for anyone in our league, they are going to play you tough," Carson-Newman coach Mike Mincey said. "If you go over there looking at their record and not appreciating the good players that they have, you very easily could walk away with a loss."

Carson-Newman holds the advantage in the all-time series leading 18-2 through the first 20 meetings. Since the Lady Eagles won 105-82 on Jan. 15, 2014, C-N has not scored more than 76 points in a contest with the average margin of victory under 10 points in the last five games.

The last time the Lady Eagles snapped a two-game losing streak at Boshamer Gymnasium with a 74-67 victory as the Tornados saw their losing streak extend to 21 straight outings.

Kailyn Brooks poured in a career-high 25 points making eight of her 11 shot attempts on the night as one of four C-N players to score in double digits on the evening.

Brevard was picked to finish last in the preseason coaches' poll after doing so a year ago with a 1-25 record and losing all 22 games in league play in succession to end the year.

Since starting the year 4-0, the Tornados have lost seven of their last eight games on the hardwood losing by an average of 22.3 points per night. The lone win in that time coming against Division III LaGrange.

Brevard lives beyond the arc having attempted a league-high 339 three-pointers this season to rank 30th in the country. The Tornados are making just 28 percent of those shots to rank 241st in Division II in efficiency.

Rebounding has been an issue all season long as Brevard posts just 28.9 boards per night, 304th out of 307 Division II schools while being outrebounded by an average of 12.9 per evening, third from the bottom.

Depth has been an issue for first-year coach Donald Hudson as just nine players have seen action this season while four players rank in the top-12 of the SAC in minutes per game.

Opponents this season are shooting 43.2 percent from the field, 278th in the nation, against Brevard while scoring 71.3 points per game, the second-worst margin among SAC teams on the season.

Preseason second-team All-SAC pick Madison Lenox leads her group in 10 statistical categories while ranking in the top-five in the league in points, rebounds, steals and blocks. Her 21.2 points per game is atop of the SAC and 14th in the nation as she has scored in double figures in every contest this year and above 20 eight times.

"Lenox is a great player," Mincey said. "She is in the top-15 in the country in scoring. I know she is number one in our league. She can get to the rim against anybody. She is a mismatch for us because I don't know who we are going to put on her."

Those interested can listen to the game on 106.3 WPFT-FM Mountain Country and cneagles.com/live starting at 5:45 p.m. with "The Appalachian Electric Cooperative Countdown to Tip-Off" on the Eagle Sports Network.
