Thigpen’s fires seven shutout innings in complete game; Eagles sweep DH from Brevard

JEFFERSON CITY, Tenn. – Senior Robbie Thigpen (St. Petersburg, Fla.) pitched seven shutout innings to start the day and set the stage for a Carson-Newman sweep of visiting Brevard in a South Atlantic Conference doubleheader on Saturday afternoon at the Silver Diamond Baseball Complex.

C-N rode Thigpen to a 6-3 win in Game 1. The Eagles scored four runs in the second inning in game two to pick up a 5-3 win.

With the wins, the Eagles are now 5-3 in SAC play and 8-11 overall. Brevard falls to 8-9 and 4-4 in SAC play.

Thigpen scattered nine hits and was in complete control for seven innings as C-N built a 5-0 lead.

Game 2

C-N freshman Bo Ausmus had three RBIs and junior Ryan Fillers struck out two in the seventh to pick up his second save of the season in a 5-3 win in Game 2.
