    CONOVER, N.C. – Carson-Newman’s Gavin Hay fired a 3-under 69 in the final round to finish 11th and the Eagles combined for their best round of the tournament to take 15th at the 2012 South/Southeast Super Regional, which wrapped up Wednesday in Hickory, N.C. The Eagles posted a total of 292 (+4) for their best round of the tournament and to climb into the midst of a tight middle of the field. C-N finished eight strokes and eight spots behind Georgia Southwestern.

    CONOVER, N.C. – The Carson-Newman Eagles shot a team 304 (+16) in Tuesday’s second round to slip to a tie for 17th at the 2012 NCAA Division II South/Southeast Super Regional. The Eagles are 24-over for the tournament and are tied with Georgia Southwestern through 36 holes. Wednesday’s final round tee times begin at 7:30 a.m.

    CONOVER, N.C. - Carson-Newman junior Gavin Hay (Glasgow, Scotland) shot a 2-under par 70 and is tied for third and the Eagles are tied for ninth after the opening round of the 2012 NCAA D-II Men’s Golf Southeast Super Regional, played Monday at the Jones Course at Rock Barn Golf Club. Hay birdied the 16th and 18th holes to surge into the top three late in the day on Monday. The first team All-South Atlantic Conference selection fired a 34 on the back nine to crowded seven-way tie for third. He had five birdies in his round.
  • Eagles earn at-large NCAA berth in South/Southeast Super Regional

    INDIANAPOLIS- The Carson-Newman Eagles have earned an at-large berth in the 2012 NCAA Division II Men’s Golf Championship and are the No. 7 seed from the Southeast Region for the tournament, the NCAA announced on Friday. The South/Southeast Super Regional will be held May 7-9 in Conover, N.C. on the Jones Course at Rock Barn Golf Club.

    CONOVER, N.C. – Junior Gavin Hay and sophomore Jonathan Kim-Moss both finished in a tie for fourth and the Carson-Newman Eagles had the second lowest team score in final round to finish third at the 2012 Food Lion South Atlantic Conference Championships, which concluded Tuesday at Rock Barn Golf Club. Hay and Kim-Moss tied for fourth to make the All-Tournament Team with a 7-over total of 223 for their three rounds. Kim-Moss tied econd lowest round of the tournament with a 2-under 70 on Tuesday, while Hay closed with a 73 (+1).

    CONOVER, N.C. – Carson-Newman’s Gavin Hay is tied for ninth and the Eagles are tied for third with Lincoln Memorial and Anderson (S.C.) at 615 through 36 holes at the 2012 Food Lion South Atlantic Conference Men’s Golf Championships played Monday at Rock Barn Golf Club. The Eagles are 12 strokes behind second place Newberry with 18 holes left to play. The Wolves shot a team 603 on Monday. Wingate is in control, finishing the two rounds with a team score of even-par 576 – 27 strokes better than second-place Newberry.
  • Ashby named SAC Golfer of the Year; Three Eagles Earn First Team All-SAC Honors

    ROCK HILL, S.C. – Carson-Newman senior Liam Ashby has been named the 2012 SAC Men’s Golf Player of the Year and teammates Jonathan Kim-Moss and Gavin Hay were also named First Team All-South Atlantic Conference, headlining the list of conference award winners that was released on Friday. The announcement of the awards comes in advance of the 2012 Food Lion SAC Golf Championship, which tees off on Monday morning at Rock Barn in Conover, N.C.

    GREENWOOD, S.C. – The Carson-Newman Eagles closed the 2012 Lander Bearcat Invitational with a team 301 (+13) in the final round to finish fourth at the tournament, which wrapped up Tuesday at the par-72, 6,800-yard Greenwood Country Club. Junior Gavin Hay grabbed a Top 5 finish with a 76 in the final round to finish the 54-hole tournament at 2-under par with a 214 total. He finished five strokes off the pace.

    GREENWOOD, S.C. – The Carson-Newman Eagles shaved 14 strokes off their first round score to shoot a 2-under 286 in Monday’s second round to climb to fourth place after 36 holes of the 2012 Lander Bearcat Invitational, played at the 6,800 yard Greenwood Country Club. The Eagles were 10th through 18 holes on Monday, but shot second lowest total in the afternoon round and in the tournament to jump into the top five. C-N shot 300 (+12) on its first 18 holes.

The Eagles finished 11 strokes behind team-champion UNC Pembroke which finish the tournament at 571 (+3). UNCP shot a tournament-low four-under 280 in the final round to win by 10 strokes. C-N finished one stroke behind Lincoln Memorial University.

The 36-hole event wrapped up on Tuesday afternoon at the 6,900-yard Hombre Golf Club.
