DADE CITY, FL.- After 34 holes of golf, No. 20 Carson-Newman is in good position heading into the final 20 holes, set to be played tomorrow morning at Lake Jovita Golf & Country Club.

"We were able to get in just 34 holes today," Carson-Newman head coach Randy Wylie said. "I think we're somewhere around even par for the tournament, which should put us in postion to have an excellent finish, if we can have a strong final round. Weve had three players playing well in each round but then a couple struggling. We need to get that fourth score better for tomorrow."

After the completion of round one, No. 20 Carson-Newman is tied for first with No. 11 Tampa University with a 281-team score. The live scoring is inaccurate due to the incompletion of round two.

Jake Mynatt (Knoxville, Tenn.) started his spring season with an even-par first nine that included one birdie and one par. Mynatt played a bogey-free final nine holes, which included two more birdies and an eagle on the par 5 13th to sit at 4-under after the opening round. In round two, he bogeyed two of his first seven holes before a remarkable end to the round.

Luke Stock (Oxted, England) got off to an impressive start, birdieing five of his eleven holes of the day. His final seven holes he played 1-over par and finished the first round at 3-under.

Elliot MacGregor (Shepperton, Middlesex) played well early in round one. The sophomore played the first 12 holes at even par but played his final six at 6-over par to finish the first round with a 78.
