Parsons sets season-best time on second day at the Winter Nationals

GREENSBORO, N.C. – All three Carson-Newman swimmers competed on the second day of competition at the 2014 AT&T Winter National Championsips in Greensboro, N.C.

Sophomore Kent Eldreth (Knoxville, Tenn.) swam the 100 Breaststroke in 56.75 to finish 55th at the Greensboro Aquatic Center. 

"Kent swam well today. He had the fastest reaction tiem of the entire field," coach Paige McCord said. "Proud of his accomplishments so far, looking forward to see what the full training will do for him at Carson-Newman in Febuary. He is having a great season."

In the 50 Freestyle time trials, seniors Stephen Parsons (Auburn, Ala.) and Ben Young (Morristown, Tenn.) both set their season-best times. Parsons set the team's quickest time of the 2014-15 season with a 20.63 and Young finished with a 20.68.

"These young men represented C-N well today in the 50 Free. Great set up for the 100 tomorrow," McCord said.

Young, Parsons and Eldreth will all compete on the last day of the Winter Nationals as Young and Parsons will swim in the 100 Freestyle and Eldreth will race in the 200 Breaststroke.
