INDIANAPOLIS – Carson-Newman senior Stephen Parsons (Auburn, Ala.) won a swim-off against Drury junior Aaron Buckingham to secure a spot in the consolation heat of the 100 Free that will be swam Saturday night during the NCAA Division II Swimming and Diving Championships.

Parsons swam the swim-off in 44.59 and Buckingham swam the event in 44.68 in the IU Natatorium in Indianapolis to secure a final swim for the senior. Both swims swam a 44.67 second race during the prelims to force the swim-off.

During the swim-off, Parsons reset his Carson-Newman school record that he set a month ago at the Bluegrass Mountain Conference Championships.

Parsons has already garnered All-American honors during the swim. He was a member of the 200 Free Relay on Thursday evening that picked up the program's first four All-American awards.

Parsons will now swim during the final session of the National Championships on Saturday evening. The session will start at 6 p.m.
