JEFFERSON CITY, Tenn.- Eagles outpace Milligan at home.

Carson-Newman swim ended the evening in the Maddox Pool with a 258-152 win over Milligan. The women finished with a score of 141 to Milligan's 64 points. The men racked up 117 points over Milligan's 88.  

The women finished first in nine out of 11 events throughout the evening. One of those wins came from Lily Parr who finished first in the women's 50-yard freestyle with a finals time of 23.88. Anna Tudor and Chrisman Rand tied for second in the event, both with times of 24.11.

"I love that event. Tonight was the first night that I went under 24, so I was super excited about that," women's swimmer Lily Parr said.

Rachel Peden placed first in the women's 1,000-yard freestyle with a time of 10:18.89 finishing over 10 seconds ahead of her closest competition. The women swept the podium in the 100-yard butterfly with Maria Tirulli taking first at 58.16.

The men placed first in seven out of their 11 races. Arthur Gluzman saw two first-place finishes on the night in the men's 50-yard freestyle and 100-yard freestyle. Henrique Januario placed first in the men's 200-yard IM with a time of 1:51.10, and Wander Sousa took home gold in the 200-yard freestyle with a time of 1:40.58. He was followed shortly after by Matthew George, one of the men's captains, who finished with a 1:43.49 finals time in the event.

"Tonight was great, and the energy the team brought was amazing," men's swimmer Matthew George said.

The Eagles have a quick turnaround as the team welcomes Lees-McRae to the Maddox Pool tomorrow at 1 p.m.

"Tonight, we are going to rest and recover. We have to continue to fuel our bodies moving forward. Hopefully we come in with that same mindset tomorrow morning to just get up, race, and put all of the pieces of the puzzle together," head swim coach Ben Young said.

Carson-Newman swim found success at home tonight and will be back in action tomorrow at 1 p.m. in the Maddox Pool against Lees-McRae.
