JEFFERSON CITY, Tenn – The Carson-Newman swim team will be in action at home on Friday in a Blue vs. Orange Inter-squad meet at Maddox Pool at 5:30pm.

Swim Coach Jordan Taylor will divide his squad into a blue team and an orange team and they will square off in a friendly competition.

"We've divided the team into two equally matched groups," Taylor said, "They've selected their own lineups and what events they're going to swim. The idea is to try and make this as much like a dual meet as possible."

The blue team will be captained by seniors Nancy Claire Smith (Franklin, Tenn.), Katie Zientarski (Boca Raton, Fl.) and Sam Schechter (Knoxville, Tenn.) and coached by graduate assistant Chris Sadsad. Amanda Henderson (Bartlett, Tenn.), Josh Grover (Villa Rica, Ga) and Landis Crawford (Greensboro, N.C.), also seniors, will captain the orange crew with graduate assistant Jamie Graves doing the coaching.

The meet will consist of 11 events beginning with the 400m free relay and finishing with a 200m medley relay, but the final event will have a twist. Along with a blue team and an orange team, there will also be a coach's team consisting of Taylor, Sadsad and Graves, with Sadsad swimming the first and last leg.

"There's already been a lot of talk between the teams over the last couple weeks as I've announced who's going to be on each roster," Taylor said. "They're getting excited. The atmosphere for the meet has been similar to what it's going to be like in a few weeks when we have our first home dual meet."

The Eagles' first event of the fall was the CSCAA Open Water Championships in Lawrence, Kansas. In a meet in which C-N competed with several Division I programs, the men's team posted a second place finish and the women came in fourth.

Sophomore Marcelo Figueiredo (Porto Alegre, Brazil) clocked in at 1:01:07.28, the second fastest time among male swimmers and was joined in the top 10 by Josh Winn (Round Rock, Texas), who placed eighth. Freshman Leah Allen (Aranda, Australia) led the way for the women by placing seventh. Figueiredo and Winn will be swimming for the orange team on Friday, while Allen will be clad in blue.
