JEFFERSON CITY, Tenn – The Carson-Newman swim team hosted their second dual meet of the season at Maddox Pool and turned it into their second victory of the fall by demolishing the University of the Cumberlands, 327-83, on Friday night.

"It's always nice to come away with a victory," coach Jordan Taylor said. "It's really about the process. We're trying to make sure we execute the best races. We've been working hard and we're seeing the benefits of that.

The Eagles won every event in the meet, a feat they also accomplished in a meet with Cumberlands in 2014.

C-N got the night started off right by dominating the first two events, the women's and men's 400 medley relays. On the women's side, C-N took first and second, while the men's teams finished first, third and fourth.

The Eagles continued building on their lead in the individual events. Eight times during the evening, Carson-Newman claimed the top three spots in a race. In two events, the 200 breaststroke and 200 back, C-N had the first, second and third-place finishers in both the men's and women's swims.

Margaret Stansberry (Knoxville, Tenn.) earned first place in the 50 free and 200 individual medley, posting times of 23.88 and 2:10.97, respectively. The Eagles also got a pair of wins from Lexy Raybon (Sarasota, Fla.) in the 1000 free, with a time of 10:59.55 and 200 fly, clocking in at 2:08.95 and from Maggie Melhorn (Knoxville, Tenn.), who posted times of 2:27.03 in the 200 breaststroke and 1:57.82 in the 200 free.

Coach Taylor also got first place finishes from Lisa Postma (Leiden, Holland) in the 100 free, Olivia Winkler (Marietta, Ga.) in the 200 back and Nancy Claire Smith (Franklin, Tenn.) in the 500 free.

On the men's side, Jon Lancaster (Ringgold, Ga.) hit the wall first in the 500 free and 200 free, clocking in at 4:46.86 and 1:43.18 respectively. Caleb Howell's (Easley, S.C.) night included victories in the 200 breaststroke, where he posted a time of 2:10.04, and the 200 individual medley, as he came in at 1:57.05.

The night also included wins by Marcelo Figueiredo (Porto Alegre, Brazil) in the 1000 free, Sam Schechter (Knoxville, Tenn.) in the 50 free, Pijus MacKevicius (Kaunas, Lithuania) in the 200 fly, Jonny Goss (Heiskell, Tenn.) in the 100 free and Seth Hughes (Kingston, Tenn.) in the 200 back.

The Eagles don't get much of a rest before their next meet, as King (Tenn.) visits Maddox Pool next week. That meet is scheduled to begin at 6 p.m.
