JEFFERSON CITY, Tenn. – Both the Carson-Newman men's and women's swim teams have been named Scholar All-America Teams by the College Swimming and Diving Association of America.
This is the second consecutive season both swim teams from Mossy Creek have been honored by the CSCAA.
"I couldn't be more proud of my teams and the work they've done in the classroom this season," swim coach Jordan Taylor said. "They've been doing great, working together and studying together. They really made that a priority this year and the results show that."
The C-N men, who are currently ranked 22nd in the country by the CSCAA, tied for the 10th highest cumulative grade point average in the country by posting a mark of 3.39. The Eagles were one of six teams out of the Bluegrass Mountain Conference to earn recognition, as they were joined by Queens (N.C.), Lenoir-Rhyne, West Virginia Wesleyan, Wingate and Davis & Elkins College, with Davis and Elkins the only school out of the BMC to have a higher GPA.
The 19th ranked women's squad tied for 17th in Division II with a cumulative average of 3.46. That GPA also tied them with Davis and Elkins for the second highest in the BMC, trailing only Wingate. Converse College, West Virginia Wesleyan, Lenoir-Rhyne and Fairmont State were the other members of the conference to be chosen by CSCAA.
To be selected as a CSCAA Scholar All-America Team, programs must have achieved a grade point average of 3.00 or higher over the fall semester.
The Eagles will be back in action on February 8th, the first of four days of competition in the Bluegrass Mountain Conference Championships in Charlotte, N.C.
