LOUDON, Tenn. – Carson-Newman women's golf was represented by four Eagles in the Tennessee Golf Association Women's Amateur Championship last week at the Tennessee National Golf Club with redshirt-sophomore transfer Hannah Holland (Sale Creek, Tenn.) leading the C-N crew in a tie for 16th.

"This tournament was important for the girls that were there, especially Hannah Holland," Carson-Newman coach Suzanne Strudwick said. "Coming from UTC, she was redshirted and didn't compete all of last year, so this really was her first big competition back. Representing Carson-Newman for the first time, for her to finish 16th and shoot a 72 on the last day, that is incredible.

"Even considering it is a three-day event with a practice round, so four days in-a-row, the girls aren't used to that, so I was thrilled. It shows that our team is ready to go. They've practiced hard this summer and, hopefully, we'll be ready to go in the spring. It was a good start."

Holland went nine-over on the week with a 225 showing. Her 72 on Thursday was her lowest round of the tournament. Four of her six birdies came on that final day, as well.

Joining Holland in the event were C-N veterans Maeve Cummins (Waringstown, Northern Ireland) and Olivia Williams (Cleveland, Tenn.) and fellow newcomer Aynsleigh Martin (Knoxville, Tenn.).

Cummins ended the week 10 shots behind Holland, holding down 29th on the leaderboard. The junior carded a 19-over total of 235, highlighted by a 77 in the second round.

Five strokes past Cummins was Williams, tied for 31st with a 240. She went 77, 84 and 79 throughout the week.

Rounding out the Orange and Blue group was Martin at 40th. The freshman was 38-over through the three rounds, holding a 254 total.
