INDIANAPOLIS -- The same day it won its 2020-21 season-opener, Carson-Newman landed its highest ranking in program history in the latest Golfstat poll, debuting at No. 12, as released by the ratings and rankings system's website on Tuesday evening.

This is the first time C-N has appeared in the top 25 of the poll since April 2019 when it was No. 24 in the country.

The Eagles make the gigantic leap into the ranking after winning the Battle at Hilton Head on Tuesday afternoon. One of the team's that C-N defeated in the field was Lee, who slid down from being a top-10 team into the No. 15 position.

Head coach Suzanne Strudwick's team won the Battle at Hilton Head by one shot, going wire-to-wire at the top of the leaderboard throughout the two-round event. It marked the first season-opening win since the 2017-18  season and the first time the team has ever won the first tournament of the spring.

The Eagles are one of five South Atlantic Conference teams in the latest batch of rankings. Limestone is the highest ranked at No. 3 with Anderson just two spots ahead of C-N at No. 10. Wingate and Lenoir-Rhyne are 14th and 17th, respectively.

Carson-Newman heads back to South Carolina this coming week for the Low Tider Intercollegiate. That two-day event opens on March 1 from the Dunes West Golf Club in Mt. Pleasant, S.C.
