Haughton garners All-SAC Honorable Mention nod

ROCK HILL, S.C. – Leading No. 24/25 with a 77.5 scoring average throughout this season, Ellie Haughton has been tabbed a 2021 All-South Atlantic Conference Honorable Mention selection, as announced by the league on Friday.

The Lincolnshire, England native is now the 26th All-SAC pick in program history with her first league laurel. This is the third time since 2009 that a lone Eagle has made the list. She joins the ranks of Elizabeth England and Sarah Jane Sinard who did so in 2018 and 2009, respectively, as first-team selections.

Haughton has started in all four of C-N's events this year, sitting as the No. 1 seed in two of those. In 11 rounds of action, she has notched three top-20 finishes with one in the top five. That came in a runner-up effort at the Louise Suggs Invitational to close out the regular season in late March. She had a career-best week with a 223 total in 54-holes to tie for second in the field. It was her first-ever top-five appearance with the Eagles.

In the most recent Golfstat player rankings that were unveiled on Tuesday, the sophomore sat at 118th in the nation.

Haughton and the Eagles are back on the links this coming week as C-N heads to nearby Tazewell, Tenn. for the 2021 SAC Championship at the Woodlake Golf Club. The 54-hole event begins Monday with two rounds of action followed by a final round on Tuesday.
