Carson-Newman's Shoemake receives SAC Softball Player of the Week honors

ROCK HILL, S.C. — Sophomore catcher Bri Shoemake (Ooltewah, Tenn.) has been named the South Atlantic Conference Softball Player of the Week, league officials announced Tuesday.

Shoemake guided the Lady Eagles to a 4-2 record on the week as she batted .650 (13-for-20), including hitting for the cycle in the second game of Sunday's doubleheader with Queens.

Shoemake, who scored eight runs and drove in eight runs on the week, also had an on base percentage of .682 and a slugging percentage of 1.000. She went 7-for-8 to close out the week against Queens, including a 4-for-4 effort with a single, a double, a triple and a solo home run in the second game to complete the cycle.

Shoemake currently leads the Lady Eagles in batting average (.593), hits (16), home runs (two) and RBIs (nine).

Tusculum pitcher Elizabeth Johnson was named SAC Pitcher of the Week. Johnson went 2-0 in two starts for the Pioneers last week, throwing a pair of complete games.
