Lady Eagles' Shoemake Named SAC Player of the Week

ROCK HILL, S.C. -- Carson-Newman's Bri Shoemake has been named the South Atlantic Conference Softball Player of the Week for the week ending April 17, announced conference officials Monday.

Shoemake, a sophomore catcher from Ooltewah, Tenn. (Ooltewah HS), guided the Lady Eagles to a 3-1 record on the week as she batted .600 (9-for-15). Shoemake, who scored four runs and drove in two runs on the week, went 8-for-8 in Sunday's doubleheader at Wingate with two RBI and two runs scored. She was 1-for-3 with two runs scored in the second game against Brevard on Wednesday.

Wingate University's Allison Smith earned league Pitcher of the Week honors.

Carson-Newman will host this week's 2011 Food Lion South Atlantic Conference Softball Tournament in Jefferson City, Tenn. Action begins Wednesday at 9 a.m. No. 2 C-N will play at 2 p.m. Wednesday against No. 7 Brevard.
