Preseason Poll Results - CSCAA/TYA

Norfolk, Va. – Both men's and women's swim teams at Carson-Newman hold top-25 positions in the 2017 Preseason College Swimming Coaches Association of America/TYR NCAA Division II Swimming & Diving Poll, as announced this morning.

The College Swimming Coaches Association of America (CSCAA) is the oldest organization of college coaches in America. It is a professional organization of college swimming and diving coaches dedicated to serving and providing leadership for the advancement of the sport of swimming & diving at the collegiate level. The poll aims to measure the top teams in head-to-head competition.

The women's team checks in tied for No. 18 in the rankings with Colorado Mesa receiving 38 points, while the men hold the No. 24 spot with 18 points.

On the men's side, Limestone rounds out the rankings at No. 25, who the Eagles defeated earlier this season in the first dual of 2017. The men's team competed in the NSU Shark Invitational over the week, in which the Eagles collected a third-place finish. Three of the top six individual swimmers in the invitational were from C-N: Marcelo Figueiredo, Caleb Howell and Jon Lancaster.

The women's rankings presented a number of teams who battled it out with Carson-Newman at the NSU Shark Invitational, including Nova Southeastern who was voted third. Wingate received 103 points for fifth place, West Florida sat at 9th, and Indianapolis at No. 16.

The Eagles claimed second-place in the NSU Invitational over the weekend finishing behind first-place finisher Nova Southeastern, but beat out the all three of the other teams ranked higher than them in the poll.
