    DENVER – Eight teams are still playing volleyball at the Division II level. Of those eight clubs, 136 players will put on their uniform while 279 teams are sitting at home. The nation’s best has descended upon the Auraria Events Center looking for one more piece of hardware.

    INDIANAPOLIS – Fresh off of a Southeast Region Championship, Carson-Newman learned Sunday that the NCAA seeded the Eagles sixth in the National Quarterfinals and will open the festivities in Denver on Thursday playing at 2 p.m. EST against third-seeded Rockhurst.

    WINGATE, N.C. – Waking up on Oct. 5, Carson-Newman stood with a 7-5 record and a 5-4 conference mark. Fast forward to Saturday evening at Cuddy Arena and the Eagles have won 21 of their last 23 matches dropping a total of 13 sets carving out space in the trophy case for a South Atlantic Conference Tournament title and an NCAA Southeast Region Championship.

    WINGATE, N.C. – Providing another strong offensive match with the Orange and Blue fans out in force, third-seeded Carson-Newman punched a ticket to the Southeast Region finals for the second time in five years beating seventh-seeded Flagler 25-19, 25-22, 21-25 and 25-23 Friday evening at Cuddy Arena. Overall the match featured 31 ties and 16 lead changes.

    INDIANAPOLIS – In the NCAA Women’s Volleyball Championships for the eighth time, South Atlantic Conference Tournament champion Carson-Newman locked in the No. 3 seed in the Southeast Region announced by the NCAA Monday night. The Eagles will play sixth-seeded Anderson on Dec. 5 in Wingate, N.C. at the top-seeded Bulldogs’ Cuddy Arena.
