PEMBROKE, N.C. – Senior outfielder Ryan Addington earned a spot on the 2017 National Collegiate Baseball Writers' Association All-Southeast Region team that was announced Thursday morning as the Eagle picked up a spot on the honorable mention club.

This season marks the third consecutive season that a Carson-Newman player has been named to the roster as Vince Apicella did so in 2015 and 2016 and Brandon Roberts was on the unit in 2016. The last outfielder to earn a spot on an all-region team was in 2010 when Jeff Lockwood was a second-team All-South Region selection.

The Cincinnati, Ohio native finished the year third in the SAC in doubles with 19, hits with 84, runs scored with 60 and total bases with 131. His 17 stolen bases are good for fourth and with a .393 batting average he is sixth.

The Buckeye State native led the team with 25 multi-hit efforts that included 11 efforts with at least three knocks while also posting nine multi-RBI outings.

On the school's all-time list, he ranks seventh in a single season in the Division II era while his .393 batting average is good for ninth, 19 doubles and five triples were the eighth-most while scoring 60 times to crack 10th.

The left-handed hitter set South Atlantic Conference record with 10 RBIs, ninth-most in Division II history, on Feb. 10 v. UVA-Wise hitting grand slams in 3rd & 4th going 5-6 with 14 total bases. For his efforts, the senior was named SAC and TSWA Player of the Week on Feb. 14, 2017 after going 14-18, two home runs, 13 RBIs and 11 runs and became the 15th player in the history of Division II and first in SAC history to hit two grand slams in one game.

The second-team All-SAC honoree was also an All-Tournament team pick in the 2017 SAC Baseball Championships. The tablesetter tallied a .423 batting average with six runs driven in while scoring seven runs and notched four multi-hit games over the weekend and in an 11-5 victory that eliminated fifth-seeded Tusculum he went 3-for-5 with four RBIs and two runs scored.

To close out his career at Carson-Newman, Addington becomes the first play to be on an all-conference team, the all-tournament group and an all-region unit since hurler Brett Hontz completed the trifecta in 2008.
