King host Eagles for season finale

JEFFERSON CITY, Tenn.—The Carson-Newman men's tennis team will try to cap off the 2016 season with a win at King on Sunday beginning at 2:00 p.m. while also sending senior Juan Sebastian Perez (Ecuador) out with a win in his final match in an Eagle uniform.

Perez has a team-leading 11 wins on the season and strung off a streak of seven wins in-a-row early in the 2016 campaign. The senior, who competes in the No. 2 spot in the lineup, has played in the top two-slots for the entirety of his career.

Carson-Newman (6-13) comes into the contest losing its last four matches in-a-row. The most recent loss came in the final home contest of the season against Tusculum on April 12 where the Pioneers handled the Eagles 8-1.

King (11-9) owns a 6-2 record in the Conference Carolinas and has won its last two matches. The Tornado beat Belmont Abbey 9-0 on April 9 and took down Emmanuel (Ga.) 8-1 a day later.

Led by second-year coach Maria Iliana, King has three juniors, two sophomores and two true freshman on the roster this season.

Singles players Moritz Posuiat, Lenny Keshani and Luis Delgado have led the way thus far for King with each recording ten-plus wins on the season. Posuiat leads the quad with a 15-2 record playing in the top-spot in the lineup while Keshani and Posuiat alternate between No. 2 and 3 and each have a 12-6 record.

The last time these two squads met was on April 16, 2014 where the Tornado got the better hand of a 6-3 decision.

"The King matchis the last match of the season for us and the lineups have not been set yet," coach Jean Love said. "There is a good chance that some of the players who have not played much this season will get some court time for some live action. Whatever lineups we put on the courts, it will be a good day of tennis."
