No. 24/25 Eagles debut at 13th in the NCAA South Regional Rankings

INDIANAPOLIS – For the first time since 2011, Carson-Newman has found a spot in the South Regional Rankings, debuting at the 13-spot in the first batch of rankings released by the NCAA on Thursday.

These official rankings will help build the entire field for the Super Regional tournament scheduled for May 15-18 from the Cleveland Country Club in Cleveland, Tenn., hosted by Lee University out of the Gulf South Conference.

Teams that win their respective conference championship with receive automatic bids into each regional tournament. For each regional, the top-12 teams will play along with six individuals who are not on the teams included. From there, the top three teams and individuals in each regional tournament will garner a spot in the national championship.

Carson-Newman, ranked 24th in the Golfstat poll and 25th in the Women's Golf Coaches' Association poll, has not made an appearance in the regional event as a team since 2011, entering as an eight-seed. It has had individuals compete three times since then with Erica Ray finishing at 38th in 2012 and Elizabeth England going in back-to-back years, tying for 21st and 23rd in 2017 and 2018, respectively.

This region ranking comes after the Eagles secured their seventh top-three finish on the season with a third-place showing at the Sunoco Campbell Oil Classic. There, they reset the program's best 54-hole score with a 905 due in large part to its 292 in the second round, tying the second-lowest single round score in South Atlantic Conference history.

The Eagles are one of three SAC teams to land in the regional rankings with Anderson at No. 11 and Wingate at No. 14.

Reigning region champion Barry, also the top team in Golfstat poll and No. 2 in the WGCA, leads the South with No. 3/3 Nova Southeastern and No. 7/8 Lynn rounding out the top three in second and third, respectively.

C-N is gearing up for the South Atlantic Conference Championship. Lenoir-Rhyne will host the event set to take place April 7-9 from the Lake Hickory Country Club - Catawba Springs Golf Course in Hickory, N.C.
