SEVIERVILLE, Tenn. – In sub-40-degree temperatures all afternoon, Carson-Newman women's golf completed its final round at the Bobby Nichols Intercollegiate, finishing in 9th place.

Carson-Newman put together a team score of 321 in the final round. The Eagles totaled 945 strokes for the three-day event.

"The effort was great," Carson-Newman interim head coach Cathy Duggan said. "Ellie just hung in there today. Hannah made a good recovery the way she was able to hit the ball today. I feel like she is getting her game back together. We hopefully learned a lot about our putting around here. I think everyone's attitude was good if you consider the difficulty of all this. They did the best they could with what they had, so I am proud of them for that."

Ellie Haughton (Lincolnshire, England) started her day with a double bogey, but recovered nicely the rest of the way. The senior made eight pars, including six in a row to score a 1-over 35 on the back nine. She finished the tournament with a six-over 77, and was C-N's top finisher in a tie for 12th. She records her 2nd top 20 finish of the year and 15th of her career.

Maeve Cummins (Waringstown, Northern Ireland) completed the tournament scoring a 12-over 83. The graduate student made eight pars in her final round. She was C-N's second highest finisher this week, finishing in a tie for 25th.

Hannah Holland (Sale Creek, Tenn.) put together a solid final round. The graduate student made birdie on her second hole of the day, the par 5 9th hole. Eight pars in her final round helped her shave five strokes off of yesterday's score and finish in a tie for 54th.

Also finishing in a tie for 54th was Caroline Nemes (Orlando, Fla.). She finished her tournament with a 14-over 85. Nemes was able to total seven pars in her final round score.The sophomore found a rhythm toward the end of his round, making three consecutive pars on holes 18, 1 and 2.

After withdrawing from yesterday's second round, Ida Peterson (Copenhagen, Denmark) returned to action today. The freshman made seven pars in her first ten holes of the day. She made her first birdie of the day on hole 3, a 432-yard par five. Following her made birdie, she rattled off two pars in her final four holes to end her round strong. She carded a final round of 9-over 80.

Individually, Ashley Holland (Sale Creek, Tenn.) made six pars to finish with a 14-over 85 for the second straight day. She finished seventh amongst those competing individually this week.

Carson-Newman made the third most pars (149) during the tournament. The Eagles finished in the top five in scoring average on both the par 3s and 5s.

The Eagles wrap up the regular season next week in Monroe, N.C. at the Dr. Jerry Surratt Women's Invitational. The two-day event begins on March 20th.
