ROCK HILL, S.C. – Carson-Newman softball's second baseman Elayna Siebert (Knoxville, Tenn.) has been named the AstroTurf South Atlantic Conference Player of the Week for a second time in her career, the league office announced Tuesday morning.

Siebert is the second Eagle to earn a player or pitcher of the week plaudit from the conference this season. Lindsay Dean (Coeburn, Va.) garnered pitcher of the week honors March 8.

"It means a lot because it comes when we're in conference play," Siebert said. "That's what matters most in my opinion because it leads into how we stand for the conference tournament, which in turn can lead to post season play.  I just want to stay relaxed and not get a big head about it."

The senior propelled Carson-Newman to a 3-1 record last week including the Eagles' first conference-opening sweep since 2011.

Siebert record a trio of multi-hit games to bat .538 for the week.  Siebert drove in multiple runs in a pair of games as well.

The Knoxville, Tenn.-native  slugged .846 on the week and posted an on-base percentage of .600.

Siebert is presently riding an eight-game hitting streak, which include five multi-hit performances.

She and the rest of the Eagles will be in action Wednesday against nationally ranked Georgia College at 2 p.m. at the Vickee Kazee-Hollifield Softball Complex.  Coverage between the Eagles and Bearcats will be available with a free high definition stream on the Eagle Sports Network at cneagles.com/live.
