JEFFERSON CITY, Tenn. – Carson-Newman softball's Allison Webster (Charlestown, Ind.) and Kristen Toppel (Roanoke, Va.) have raked in weekly accolades from the South Atlantic Conference and the Tennessee Sportswriters Association.

Toppel earned league player of the week honors for the first time in her career, joining Elayna Siebert (Knoxville, Tenn.) as Eagles who have won AstroTurf South Atlantic Conference Player of the Week honors this season.

Meanwhile, Webster tallied both SAC and TSWA Pitcher of the Week honors.  She joins Lindsay Dean (Coeburn, Va.) as a winner of both those honors this season.  Webster's two honors are each the first in her Carson-Newman career.

Webster posted a 3-1 mark and allowed two earned runs on 13 hits in 23.2 innings last week, while striking out 34 across four outings. The chief highlight of her week came against Anderson in the first game of that doubleheader. She tossed her first career no-hitter versus, walking two and striking out 10, her sixth double-digit punchout performance, in a 6-0 victory. The Charlestown, Ind., native shutout the Trojans in the second game of the doubleheader as well, giving up five hits with eight strikeouts in a 3-0 win.

The junior right-hander allowed two earned runs in 9.2 innings against Coker College as well, picking up a win in the first contest. She allowed just two hits and one run with nine strikeouts in five innings in that contest and suffered the loss in the contest game, giving up one earned run on six hits with seven strikeouts. Webster is 16-8 this season in 27 contests, tossing 157.1 innings and striking out 199.

Toppel, a sophomore from Roanoke, Va., slugged .833 with six hits and four doubles. She posted a hit in each game she played in, including a pair of multi-hit games, and is riding a five-game hit streak.

Toppel posted a double in all four games and drove in four runs.  She batted .500 in the four-game span, while posting an on-base percentage of .600.

She sparked a series of nine unanswered runs in the first game against Coker Saturday, helping power the Eagles to a 10-1 victory in that contest.

Toppel, Webster and the rest of the Eagles will be in action Wednesday at archrival Lincoln Memorial.
