Postma marks fourth C-N swimmer to earn conference honor this season

HICKORY, N.C. – Senior Lisa Postma has collected the Bluegrass Mountain Conference Swimmer of the Week honor following her performance over the weekend in a dual meet against Nova Southeastern with Tuesday's announcement.

Despite the No. 14 ranked Eagles 186.5 to 56.5 loss to the No. 10 Sharks, Postma turned in the top time in the 50-yard freestyle with a time of 24.76 seconds.

The Leiden, Holland native also helped C-N collect two top-three finishes in relay races in the one-day meet.

Mary Northcutt, Postma, Meredith Ginn, and Elly Culp earned a second-place time in the 200-yard freestyle relay checking in with a finish at 1:39.20.

Ksenia Naydenova, Gabby Aguiar, Culp, and Postma rounded out the top-three in the 200-yard medley relay turning in a time of 1.50.72.

"I'm super glad that I got this it's a huge honor," Postma said. "I was definitely surprised because I really wasn't thinking about it and it was a tough meet. We've also had a tough first few days of training but it's still awesome to be recognized."

Postma also swam in the 100-yard freestyle for the Eagles with a time of 55.09 seconds and a sixth-place finish. She joins Meredith Ginn, Matthew George, and Bethany McNabb as other C-N swimmers to earn the honor this season.

"I'm really pleased that C-N continues to get recognition on a conference and national level," Coach Jordan Taylor said. "The meet was very tough as we went against one of the top team's in the nation on both the men's and women's sides and we were tired from our training camp. Lisa put together very good swims on the weekend and I'm really happy for her."

C-N's next test will take place in Indianapolis, Ind. against the University of Indy in a dual meet on Saturday, Jan. 12. The first event is set to take place at 3:00 p.m. at the Ruth Lilly Fitness Center. The Hounds men's team is ranked No. 2 in the nation with the women rounding out the top-five.
