Women’s tennis drop match at Tusculum

GREENVILLE, Tenn. – Carson-Newman (7-9, 1-5 SAC) lost 7-2 to Tusculum (13-3, 5-1 SAC) on the road on Saturday afternoon.

Stefy Stand (Ecuador) tore through Kate Hutchinson with a 6-2, 6-2 win at no. 1 doubles.

At no. 5 singles, Brooke Sanderson (Evans, Ga.) took Adrienne Kaye into a third set tiebreaker before dropping the match 6-1, 1-6, 10-4.

In doubles play, Stand and Patricia Guerreiro (Portugal) beat Kaye and Hutchinson in the no. 1 spot 9-8 (11).

At no. 3 doubles, Sanderson and Megan Wilson (Maryville, Tenn.) came close to a victory but fell in the end with a score of 9-7 to Amanda Sumner and Emily Waters. In the no. 2 position, Jen Ott (Knoxville, Tenn.) and Haleigh Chastian (Knoxville, Tenn.) also neared success but came home with a loss of 8-5 to Taylor Patterson and Erin Mills.

The Eagles come back home to continue conference play against Lincoln Memorial at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday.
