ROCK HILL, S.C. — Carson-Newman outside hitter Carly Mozgai (Greensboro, N.C.) has been named the South Atlantic Conference Volleyball Player of the Week, the league announced Monday.
Mozgai becomes the second Lady Eagle to receive the award this season, joining junior Nikki James (Cookeville, Tenn.).
Mozgai, a 5-9 senior, guided the Lady Eagles to a perfect 3-0 record on the week, including a 2-0 mark in SAC play. Mozgai hit .348 with 49 kills, 37 digs and six blocks. She averaged 4.9 kills, 3.7 digs and 0.6 blocks per set for the week.
She tallied 18 kills, 14 digs and three blocks in a 3-1 win over Maryville. She followed that performance up by recording 17 kills with a hitting percentage of .500, nine digs and two blocks in a 3-0 victory over Newberry. Mozgai closed out the week by collecting 14 kills and 14 digs in a 3-0 sweep of Anderson.
Mozgai and the Lady Eagles have won four straight matches and are now 9-3 on the season and 3-3 in the conference. C-N returns to action on Tuesday at Mars Hill.
