INDIANAPOLIS — The Carson-Newman volleyball team received the No. 6 seed for the 2010 NCAA Southeast Region Tournament, NCAA officials announced Sunday night.

The eight-team region tournament will be held on the campus of top seed Wingate University in Wingate, N.C.

The Lady Eagles (19-10), who earn their third straight NCAA Tournament berth, will face South Atlantic Conference rival Tusculum in the opening round on Friday. The Pioneers (25-6) earned the No. 3 seed after advancing to the SAC Tournament finals. Tusculum defeated C-N in both meetings this season.

Wingate is the top seed in the Southeast Region for a third straight year. The Bulldogs (28-1), who enter the tournament on the heels of winning the SAC Tournament title for a fifth straight year, will play eighth-seeded Lees-McRae on Friday.

Defending Southeast Region champion Flagler is the No. 2 seed after winning the Peach Belt Conference regular season and tournament championships. The Saints will face seventh-seeded Armstrong Atlantic. Fourth-seeded Lincoln Memorial will play fifth-seeded Montevallo.

The Carson-Newman/Tusculum winner will advance to Saturday's semifinal round and will face the winner of the Flagler/Armstrong Atlantic match.
