JEFFERSON CITY, Tenn. - Carson-Newman Director of Athletic Communications Adam Cavalier has announced that former C-N tennis and beach volleyball player Catherine Cook has joined the athletic communications team as a graduate assistant.
Cook was a three-year player for the Carson-Newman tennis team before transitioning to the sand for beach volleyball. In her free time, she was an active student staffer of the Eagle Sports Network and the athletic communications team.
"It's always wonderful when you can promote from within," Cavalier said. "Cook immediately set to make herself a student leader among our productions and had an immediate affinity for high-level video work. We're excited to see her blossom and grow as she rounds out her athletic communications skillset."
Cook takes over for Bill Meyer. Meyer landed a job before he had even finished his master's degree and left Mossy Creek to be the head sports information director at Ouachita Baptist University in Arkadelphia, Ark. Alums from the athletic communications office also include WNML's Eric Cain, the voice of the Texas A&M-Kingsville Javelinas Mark Inserra and Jacksonville Jumbo Shrimp voice Roger Hoover.
Cook finished her undergraduate degree at Carson-Newman in business administration with an emphasis in sports management.
She has worked with both the Nashville Sounds and Tennessee Smokies on their video production crews.
Cook will handle media relations duties for Carson-Newman's cross country, tennis and beach volleyball programs as well as the spirit squads.
