Cheer brings home two first-place trophies from NCA Cheer Camp

MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. – Carson-Newman's cheerleaders earned a pair of first-place awards at the NCA Cheer Camp Saturday and Sunday.

The Eagles took home top honors among Division II schools in the Gameday and Rally Routines.  The Gameday Routine is a 45-second crowd-leading competition.  The Rally Routine features stunts, pyramids and a dance selection.

"I could not be more proud of this team," head cheer and dance coach Christy Bowlin said. "They put in the work and it has already paid off."

With the two first-place awards, the Eagles also received a Gold Bid, one of nine schools to receive such an honor, to NCA College Nationals, held in Daytona Beach in April 2019.  The Eagles will be looking to improve upon sixth place and fourth place finishes at nationals the last two years.

The C-N cheerleaders are actively fundraising to assist with travel expenses to Daytona Beach in April. To assist them, contact Bowlin at cbowlin@cn.edu.
