Carson-Newman to offer free video stream for playoff game versus Lenoir-Rhyne

JEFFERSON CITY, Tenn. – For the first time all season, the C-N athletic communications department will offer a free video stream for the Eagles playoff contest with the Lenoir-Rhyne Bears at noon Saturday.

Fans can access the stream at cneagles.com

"We settled on a pay-per-view model for video at the start of the season," Director of Athletic Communications Adam Cavalier said. "Fans watched it in droves. Because of some record setting numbers to the stream, we decided to give back and open it up free of charge for any and all home playoff games."

The stream goes live at 11 a.m., one hour before kickoff with the Farm Bureau Tailgate Show.  Fans will hear Cavalier and Roger Hoover's radio call over the video feed - which features multiple camera angles and slow-motion instant replay.

"I'm proud of the level of production," Cavalier said. "It's largely thanks to Glenn Cragwall (a professor in C-N's communications department), Blake McKinney, Pete Kenny, Clint Keller (communications students) and Phil Barger (a Carson-Newman alum).  Their tireless work on Saturdays gives Eagle fans a viewing experience that's unmatched at this level."

The playoff appearance is Carson-Newman's 23rd under head coach Ken Sparks.

"It's a sincere thank you to Eagle fans," Cavalier said. "Traffic to the website is up 30 percent since August.  Twitter usage has doubled and Facebook usage is up 50 percent over that time span.  Without those who proudly don the orange and blue, we wouldn't be able to do this."
