An All-American in the classroom, Day makes d2football.com All-America Squad

JEFFERSON CITY, Tenn. – Current Knoxville West social studies teacher and former Carson-Newman center Kevin Day (Soddy-Daisy, Tenn.) has landed on the d2football.com honorable mention All-American team.

The award is Day's fourth All-American honor this season.  He becomes the 10th Eagle to make four All-American teams in a single year.  It's the third year out of four that Carson-Newman has placed a player on the d2football.com squad.

Should Day make the Don Hansen All-America team, he would become the seventh consensus All-American in Carson-Newman's Division II history.

Day joins Philadelphia Eagle Leonard Weaver (2002), former Washington Redskin and Houston Texan Cedric Killings (1999) and current Carson-Newman defensive coordinator Mike Clowney in the four-timers club.

Day helped clear the way for the nation's top rushing offense in Division II.  The Eagles piled up nearly 380 yards a game while scoring 52 rushing touchdowns.  The 52 scores on the ground are the most among all schools in all divisions.  Only FCS' Georgia Southern averaged more yards rushing a game than C-N.
