Former Eagle Voice Cotten inducted into Greater Knoxville Sports Hall of Fame

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. - Former Carson-Newman radio voice and current Voice of the Demon Deacons Stan Cotten was inducted into the Greater Knoxville Sports Hall of Fame during a virtual ceremony Tuesday night.

Cotten, now in his 24th season as the lead play-by-play voice at Wake Forest University, was behind the microphone of Carson-Newman football, basketball and baseball broadcasts for 12 years from 1980-91.  He broadcast all five of Carson-Newman's NAIA national championships in the 1980s.  

Cotten is a Knoxville, Tenn., native and a graduate of the University of Tennessee. He got his start in broadcasting while in college serving as Sports Director of WIVK-FM in Knoxville and for three years he was also the weeknight sports anchor for WTVK/WKXT-TV in his hometown. Cotten is a three-time Tennessee Associated Press Broadcasters Association award winner.

Additionally, he has been named North Carolina's Sportscaster of the Year four times, and was the recipient of the Lindsey Newlson Award from the Knoxville Quarterback Club.
